Un peintre belge à Washington - Luc Janetzky

I have come in contact with the work of Luc Janetzkyon two occasions. The first instance was the exhibi-tion of his pamtin^s at the International MonetaryFund in December, 1973, the second a national exhibi-tion I juried for the Washington Society of MiniaturePainters in the fall of 1974.The exhibit at the Monetary Fund was a rather largeshow with paintings that spanned several phases inthe artists evolution, a revealing and difficulttest for an artist who was, at the time, totallyunknown in the art community of Washington. Theexhibit showed that Janetzky had developed a master-ful technique and achieved a highly individual senseof color and texture.

His abstract paintinp's are strongly formed and emotion-, ally expressive. Janetzky's work, it seems to me clear,is the product of an excellent talent and a seriousintelliPence. I was pleased to have been able to awardone of his paintings a first prize in the above-mentionedminiature exhibit, which attracted 'hundreds of entriesfrom more than 30 states.
